Research

PEDSnet is a public utility for the nation’s children and open to investigators within and outside PEDSnet’s member institutions. This contrasts with conventional research networks, which are Enclosures in service to a limited group of investigators, rather than the stakeholders most affected by the evidence generated. All research must be funded by a sponsor and produce new knowledge that can lead to better patient, family, and/or health system outcomes. Research may be done using the PEDSnet data repository only or it may involve recruiting patients into prospective studies or clinical trials. Of the 100+ studies that PEDSnet has or is currently conducting, topics have included patient-centered outcomes research, development of new methods using real-world data, pragmatic clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research, population surveillance, and health services research.
