Mid-South Clinical Data Research Network
About the Mid-South CDRN
The Mid-South CDRN is comprised of Vanderbilt University Health System, Meharry Medical College, the Vanderbilt Healthcare Affiliated Network (VHAN), Greenway Health, and the Carolinas Collaborative (a collaboration across North Carolina and South Carolina including University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Health Sciences South Carolina). The Carolinas Collaborative engages seven health systems in SC, as well as the state’s three research-intensive universities: Clemson University, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and University of South Carolina. The Mid-South CDRN includes a diverse array of thousands of ambulatory practices and hundreds of hospitals across Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and more. It reaches over nine million patients in the South and an additional 14 million patients across the nation.
We have developed infrastructure to conduct pragmatic research including: (1) the PCORnet common data model (CDM) across seven datamarts ; (2) informatics tools for electronic patient identification, contact, consent, surveying, and payment; (3) stakeholder engagement infrastructure for project review and approval, (4) regulatory and operational processes for assessing and acting on requests for CDRN resources.
Conducting research is our main focus. We have created and refined an intake process which allows internal and external investigators as well as industry sponsors to access our services. Our CDRN has collaborated on the planning and conduct of many research projects including projects with CDRNs, PPRNs, academic institutions, and the health industry.
