This collection consists of phenotypic cohort definitions for patients with diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels, including disorders of cardiac structure, function, rhythm, and vascular health. This category includes both acute events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke, and chronic conditions like hypertension, heart failure, and arrhythmias. Phenotype logic used to define cohorts in this category may include structured diagnosis codes (e.g., ICD-10 or SNOMED CT), procedure codes (such as cardiac catheterization or coronary artery bypass), medication data (e.g., use of beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, or anticoagulants), and clinical measurements (e.g., elevated blood pressure readings, ejection fraction from echocardiograms). Laboratory values (e.g., elevated troponin) and admission or procedure timing may also be included. Example phenotypes within this category include "Pediatric Hypertension," which might be defined using age- and sex-specific blood pressure percentiles, or "Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction," which would require both a qualifying heart failure diagnosis and documented ejection fraction below a clinical threshold (e.g., <40%).
