Founded in in 1936, Nemours has grown to become one of the nation’s largest integrated pediatric health systems, providing hospital and clinic-based specialty care, primary care, prevention and health information services, and research and medical education programs dedicated to improving the lives of children and families throughout the Delaware Valley and in Florida. The Nemours Primary Care Research Collaborative (PCRC) is an AHRQ-registered primary-care practice-based research network that now includes more that 30 primary care practices in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Florida providing care to more than 100,000 unique patients in more than 20 community-based locations. Among the 60,000 patients receiving their primary care at a PCRC site in the Delaware Valley, 11% are Hispanic/Latino, 40% Caucasian, and 40% Black/African America. More than half of the patients are on Medicaid and 44% on a commercial insurance. In Central Florida, 13,000 patients are registered at a PCRC site, with 11% identifying as Hispanic/Latino, 43% Caucasian, and 9% African-American.

The Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is the hub for a system of primary and specialty pediatric clinics with practice locations throughout the Delaware Valley. Among 21 Nemours primary care sites in the Delaware Valley, 10 see more that 10,000 visits annually, 5 more than 15,000 visits annual, and 1 more than 20,000 visits annually. Each of these sites is included in the Primary Care Research Collaborative and will participate in the Pediatric PMI Enrollment Center. The Orlando location has a primary catchment area that encompasses a total of nearly 500,000 pediatric patients, per CY 2014 sources. Counties in the region that make up this area are: Orange, Osceola, and Seminole. The new, $240 million Nemours Children’s Health is located in Lake Nona Medical City in Orlando, FL, and opened for patient care on 2012. This 95-bed facility serves as the hub for an extensive primary care network of 13 practice sites responsible for almost 30,000 children.
