Abstract
The results of a Clinical Events & Specialties check using the Multi-Site, Anomaly Detection, Cross-Sectional parameters. This check evaluates anomalous specialty utilization in visits at each institution associated with serum creatinine labs or antihypertensive prescriptions.

Provenance
This data quality check was run on a database extracted from the The Preserving Kidney Function in Children With CKD (PRESERVE) Study. These results were not used for the study, but rather run on the study data after analysis was conducted as part of an SSQDA demonstration project.
Description
- For visits with serum creatinine labs, several pediatric sites have anomalously high utilization in general pediatric specialties, which aligns with expectations due to institutional specialization and population differences.
- For visits with antihypertensive prescriptions, Stanford & UMichigan have anomalously low utilization in nephrology specialties, but anomalously high utilization in general peds and other/unknown, respectively. This points to a potential lack in specificity in specialty mappings at these institutions, or, in Stanford’s case, indicates that it is more common for generalists to care for this population than specialists.
Response to Findings
Study team did not conduct further investigation or data intervention in response to these results because this was a demonstration project intended to highlight the functionality of the SQUBA tool.
