It is well known that adults with CHD have higher rates of stroke and stroke at younger ages, compared to the general population. We aim to better characterize this risk in a large US patient population, and to better understand the role of CHD-related and typical stroke risk factors to ultimately guide management strategies to minimize stroke risk in the adult CHD population.
Aims
1) Estimate incidence of ischemic stroke in US cohort and by CHD type.
2) Identify patient-specific risk factors for ischemic stroke
3) Compare risk of ischemic stroke among patients who receive guidelines-based cardiac care to those who do not.
