Samantha Boch, PhD

Samantha Boch, PhD, RN is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati and affiliate faculty of the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Her clinical background is in corrections nursing and she completed her post-doctoral fellowship in patient-centered pediatric research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 2020. Her program of research centers on the social determinants of health with particular interest in understanding and mitigating the collateral consequences of mass incarceration on child health.

Dr.Boch's PEDSnet Project is titled, "Social Justice and Equity: Bridging Data Sciences Approach to Improve the Care of Children of Incarcerated Parents", this project will be explored using the following aims:

  • To create the data infrastructure for testing and replication of the machine learning model.
  • Partner with families where a parent is incarcerated (N = 30 dyads) to gain their perspectives about healthcare access, health needs, experiences disclosing parental incarceration, and ethical concerns about information sharing and identification.
